“Bon Accord is soul cleansing
the wine is an experience to cherish”

Neatly tucked into the folds of the surrounding Langeberg mountains of Montagu in the Little Karoo, South Africa, lies Bon Accord. Rich in history, the title deeds reveal that the name of the farm dates back to 1861.

The prime soil of the farm tested ideal for growing grapes. Right from testing the first Shiraz produced by the current owners in 2007, the proof of the quality of the vine called for celebration.

The present owner, Sakkie Rautenbach bought Bon Accord in 2006 - a love at first sight for him and his wife Erna.Together they are turning Bon Accord into a piece of paradise. This is a dream come true.

The habitat of the area produces a vast variety of shrubs, flowers and succulents to be found in unexpected nooks and crannies. Although serenely tranquil, the farm creates a feeling of excitement and expectancy due to the mixed aroma of plants and soil - and the picturesque scenery.

Planted in 2000, on a north-west facing slope which is slightly undulating, thereby resulting in varied altitudes of between 330 and 370 metres above sea level, the Shiraz vineyard has just the right rudiments for yielding the ideal grape. The soil is of the Glenrosa formation, with the mother material comprising of schale. The result is a soil with low water containing ability leading to small berries that ultimately result in a superb wine. A classic styled Shiraz, with wonderful red fruit notes on the nose and superb bottle maturing properties
